Call to Worship and Welcome

Grace and peace to you from the God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Welcome and brief announcements.

-Blessed be Your Name
-Glorious Day
-How Great is our God

ConfessionApostles’ Creed

(Congregation)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
    born of the Virgin Mary,
    suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell,
the third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church,
    the communion of saints,
    the forgiveness of sins,
    the resurrection of the body,
    and life everlasting.
Amen

Consecration

Children’s Bible Classes during sermon

Sermon – Doctrinal Reform Acts 2:42

According to Luke, those who were baptized devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes. The word devoted means to attach oneself to someone/thing; to be faithful to someone; to hold fast to someone/thing; to continue in, or persevere in something; to spend much time in (it). The goal of today’s message: to show us the need to devote ourselves to the teachings, traditions, and theology of the apostles.

Communion – Lord’s Prayer

(Congregation)

Our Father in heaven,
  hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
  your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
  and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
  but deliver us from evil.
For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
  forever. Amen!

sermon evaluation guide

This evaluation is to be used (1) to help God’s people learn how to listen to a sermon and (2) to identify strengths and weaknesses for preachers and their messages. The questions are divided into two main categories: faithfulness and communication, also called substance and style.
